Preaching is always easy but to follow the good qualities in daily life is not that easy. You need to have a strong and mature mind to forgive the mistakes of others. Forgiving is a powerful tool which really helps to save a marriage, a love relationship, a partnership in a business, a friendship and many other relationships.

Are we willing and ready to forgive those who make mistakes and affect our happiness or progress in life? No, we are not at all ready to forgive. On the other hand, we often criticize their mistakes and destroy the relationships. It does not mean that we never forgive anybody.

We do forgive our children whatever mistakes they commit. Why is it possible for us to forgive the bigger mistakes of our children while we cannot forgive even the ordinary mistakes of others? It is because we consider our children as part of our body and soul. We are ready with excuses to forgive ourselves very easily even if we make great mistakes in our lives. Similarly, we can forgive our children, as they are a part of us.

We started to forgive our children when they slapped our cheeks with a shining smile when they were infants. We became used to forgive our children from that stage onwards.

The surprising fact is that we cannot forgive our spouses as we do our children. After all the spouse is the one whom we unite with body and soul. Once there was an old man by the name of Sathyamurthy. His wife and he lived in an extremely small hut in a small village near Madurai. Though he was very poor, his heart was rich and warm ready to help others whenever there was a need.

His hut was very small and just about enough for the couple to sleep in.

One stormy night, just as the couple had retired to bed, they heard a knock at the door. Now, there were great flashes of lightning followed by loud peals of thunder enough to wake the dead. It had been raining heavily and continually for a long time. Who would be knocking in this weather; unless of course it was someone who wanted shelter for the night? Surmising so, he told his wife he wanted to help whomever the person outside the hut.

His wife said, “But dear, we cannot accommodate another person here, this hut is just adequate for the two of us to lie on the floor”.

He told her with a smile on his face, “honey, if there is space in your heart, there would be space here too. This hut is just adequate for both of us to lie on the floor; nevertheless, it is a big enough place for three persons to sit in.”

Hearing this, she reluctantly opened the door, and let the stranger in. The three sat on the floor, and after having some tea they continued to spend the night that way.

After an hour, there was another knock on the door. The old man in his kindness said, he wanted to see who was at the door bearing down on them in this inclement weather, and if needed to help him as best he could.

The stranger then said, “I respect your kind heart sir, but there is no space here”.

The old man repeated what he had earlier said to his wife, “If there is space in your heart my dear friend, there will be space here too”. He further added, “We are now sitting very comfortably, ok, let him come in and we will manage by sitting close to each other till morning.”

The other man too was invited inside, and they all sat very close to each other, resigned to spend the rest of the time, sharing in the warmth and love of the old man and leaving the cold outside to the stormy night.

After a while, they heard a sound at the door. Going out to see what caused it the old man was moved to see a donkey, struggling to beat the heavy rain by trying to shelter against the hut. The old man then wanted to help this poor animal to some comfort too.

However, when all others protested he said, “We can all stand and give space to the donkey, or if you do not like the idea, I will give my place to it and stand outside the hut.”

Hearing this, they were surprised at his kindness and all of them unanimously accepted his proposal.

There are always some kind-hearted persons living in almost every place.

I know a person who used to go to a hotel every Sunday. He would order the hotel to give food to the beggars sitting outside. He informed the hotel that he would meet the bill for whatever food they ate. He never exposed his identity to anyone. The beggars never knew who that kind person was, who offered them the best food in their lives. What a great man. He probably derives happiness by seeing them happy.

It is true that we cannot help others like Mother Teresa did. However, we can help a few people within our capacity.

Parse people practice a strange custom. They do not bury or cremate their dead bodies. They simply leave it to the vultures. They think the dead men will live on in the lives of the birds and help them to live.

Let us try to help others whenever we are able, to live a little bit better in this wonderful world. Though the help we can offer may be small, our hearts should always be big. The biggest happiness in life perhaps is making others happy.

A person who does not see it fit to help anyone is no better than a corpse.

We can donate our eyes and live on even after our death.

Swamy Sivananda was a famous philosopher and learned man. People used to visit him to get his advice in solving their problems in life. Once, Raja-lingam a typical family man visited him to seek his advice. He looked sober and confused.

He then said, “Sir, I come from a conservative family. I expect my children to be perfect in all aspects. Therefore I have to be very strict with them sometimes. On the other hand, my wife is very soft and is very lenient in her approach in upbringing the children.

Now my three children have all grown up and none of them care for me. They hate me as though I am their enemy. They don’t even respect their mother. We are worried and at this old age, I live fretting for their love and peace.

Swamy was having some holy water in a small vessel. He said, “I’m going to pour some water in your palm now. You have to stretch your palm open and hold the water” Raja lingam was unable to hold the water.

Then he said, “You can close your palm when I pour water this time”. He closed his palm quickly but, even this time he could not hold the water. Then he said, “Now you keep your palm half open and try”



Obviously, he was able to hold the water this time.

Swamy said,” this is the secret. You have to be tough enough to make them do their duties and live with good morals and soft enough not to lose their love.

That’s how we should raise our children to have them succeed in life without losing their love for you.

In the present days both men and women think that, there is no need to say sorry to their spouses. This may be because the media has taught us so by way of fancy stories and so on. However, in real life saying sorry to their spouses helps a lot to strengthen a relationship between a man and woman. You need to help love grow for ever.

After all, if it is going to please your spouse and strengthen your relationship why not? If you can easily forgive your children for all their mistakes, why cannot you do that for your spouse who is going to be with you through thick and thin and till the end of your life.

Love means a need to say sorry.

There has been a serious debate going on this subject for quite a few years all over the world. People say that all the popular religions indicate the end of the world on this day.

They even say that Nostradamus had given a similar prediction. They also claim the Mayan’s calendar ends on this day.

They give so many reasons for the end of the world. It could be the result of the third world war. It could be the result of drastic changes in the solar system. It could also be the result of huge natural calamities.

It is also said that the earth’s magnetic field is changing to a great extent and so on and on. They also say that there is a serious threat to earth by some comets and asteroids that are fast approaching towards the earth.




The earth has been surviving for millions and millions of years. It had experienced so many disasters in the past but never failed in its survival. Of course, there have been many earth faults and notable changes in the global phenomenon.

However, it is difficult to believe that the world will end on this date. It may experience serious set backs during this year. The World is too young to die at this stage.

Once there was a famous philosopher known for his consistent success in all his endeavors. One day a media person while interviewing him asked about his secret success factors. The philosopher did not reveal the success factors at that time and simply said, “come to the river tomorrow morning, I will tell you”.

The next day the media person went to the river much earlier unable to control the excitement and the suspense. The philosopher greeted him warmly and took him to the water. Then he suddenly grabbed him with force and held his head firmly under water. The media person was suffocating under water and trying hard for his life. After great difficulty, he somehow managed to pull his head out of the water.

His face looked pale clearly implying that he had not yet fully recovered from the terrible shock. His annoyance increased when he saw a mischievous smile on the philosopher’s face. With utter confusion and disgust, he asked him, “Why did you do that to me sir?” The philosopher with the smile still on his face asked him what he felt during the few seconds his face was under water. He replied, “I did not think anything else except to come to the surface and breathe”.



“That is it”, the philosopher said, “your complete attention and focus was to pull out of the water. If you have a similar attitude to win in life you will certainly do, that is the secret if you want to call it so.” Now the media person seemed to have understood the success factors.

The killer attitude to succeed is the key to success in any kind of work.

I was at a coffee shop a few months ago, when one of my friends happened to walk in looking rather sad and downcast. It worried me, as I had never seen him in this state before. It is rather difficult to go straight out and ask a person why he is not himself without wandering how your best-intended inquiry will be taken. After casually inquiring and talking on general matters, I subtly asked him if he was in any kind of difficulty. He told me that he was out of employment, and I referred him to a Company who needed someone of his stature. He was engaged on my recommendation, and was able to negotiate a decent salary more than his expectations. This gave me a sense of goodwill and I was very happy for him.

It was after about a month, when I saw him again, he seemed an even more worried man than before. I asked him why he seemed to be worried. He told me that his manager is a short-tempered person and he found it very difficult to cope with this sort of temperament. To my utter disappointment, he added he wanted to quit his job, as he could not cope with the stress anymore.

Then I told him about a recent real incident that involved a woman officer in the USA. She was working as a chief officer in a manufacturing company in New York. Her immediate manager used to berate her in a very harsh manner, very often in the presence of others for even the most trivial matters. His words hurt her deeply, even after she left her workplace and returned home.It reached a stage, when she could no longer stand the humiliation and stress; she thought it best to quit her job.

She however, consulted with a psychologist before deciding to submit her resignation. The doctor told her to continue in the job for another three months. He added, "Young lady, even the worst man will have a few good qualities. You find out the good qualities in him and appreciate them honestly. If you do not find any changes even after three months you can quit" She liked his idea and agreed to try it.

She noticed that her manager had very good dress sense. She complimented him on his taste, and choice of clothes, one day when they were alone. It seemed to work a little. Then one day she marveled at his immense technical knowledge and skills, and mentioned that this must contribute considerably to the company's benefit.

Three months later, she visited the psychologist with an invitation to her wedding. Yes, you have guessed it right; the bridegroom was none other than the so-called angry man. This story impressed my friend very much. He liked the idea as well, and told me that he would try it.

The recent news is that things are moving in a much better manner now, and he is able to relate well with his manager and work in a much more cordial atmosphere.

Hard work perhaps can be rated as the best personality trait of a person’s attributes. There can be no substitute for hard work. I believe in hard work. I love hard working people. People will always respect and love hard working persons.

My question now is whether all hard working people succeed in life?
On the other hand, do all lazy people fail in life?
The answer is” No”.

Similarly, I have some more questions. Do all the intelligent people come up in life?
Alternatively, do all dull persons fail in life?

Again, the answer is a big “NO”.

There is a saying “success is from 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.

It is obvious that we need intelligence and hard work for success in life.
Nevertheless, there is one more very important factor, which helps you be successful. That is your destiny.



You may call it as destiny or God’s blessing. I strongly believe without God’s blessing we cannot go anywhere near success.

I want to make myself clear to my readers that I do believe in hard work as you do. At the same time, I believe that hard work alone cannot gift you success. We need the favorable gift of Destiny, hard work and intelligence to travel the road of success. The simple arithmetic formula is:
