When the Buddha was on his mission spreading his principles, he traveled to many villages in India. Once when he was camping in a village he was insulted by some people who used bad words. One of his disciples became furious and when he was about to react violently, the Buddha who was cool, advised him against abusing them. When the disciple asked him why he should not react to them, the Buddha said, “if you think there is no truth in what they said about me, then it is better we should ignore the matter. If there is truth in their allegations then we need to accept their abuses.” That is how Buddha managed the insults.




Another great personality was Mahatma Gandhi, who during his freedom fight against the British Government once, was thrown into jail. The jailor who did not know about Gandhi’s fame and power kicked Gandhi. During his term in jail, Gandhi made a beautiful pair of shoes and presented it to that jailor at the time of his release. The jailor was taken aback and when he came to know who Gandhi was, he fell at Gandhi’s feet and cried.



Everyone knows that Mother Teresa was a great friend of the sick, destitute and poverty stricken masses. This incident was in the early stages of her life, and at that time she was not too well known. While trying to raise some funds for the children in her ashram, she spread her open palm to a businessman in Kolkatha asking for a donation; the businessman became annoyed and spat on her hand. Mother Teresa calmly said, “You have given my share, now please give me something for my children who are starving.” He was moved by her reaction and cried bitterly. He donated a big amount, became Mother Teresa’s admirer, and afterwards always supported her projects.





It is amazing to note how these great people were able to put aside the insults thrown at them and get on with their mission. That is why they became great and famous.

You may be a micro particle in this universe,
Yet you are all the world to me without recourse

Physically you are far away from me, being there
Yet happy to know that in my heart lies your soul here

If it be a secret joy when our bodies unite
It'll be the ultimate pleasure for our souls without contrite

I know not if I will enjoy this secret joy, dear
Nevertheless, I thank you for having given me the ultimate pleasure

If you will forgive me dear, I'll admit a fact here,
I tried to plug you out of my thoughts and memories forever,

Alas, the more I wished to forget,
The more you stubbornly stayed without regret,

I thought you made impressions only in my brain,
But the impressions dear, are deeply ingrained within my soul

I do not know if it is right to say "I love You"
But dear, I boldly declare "my soul needs you"

So come let us live a life of eternal bliss
Like carefree birds over the mist.

For once in my life, I truly believe I will finally find someone
who can completely turn my world around,

Someone whom I can freely tell my most intimate thoughts and desires
that I've kept locked in my soul and
she absorbs everything I say and
actually wants to hear more.

I will share with her my hopes for the future,
my dreams that may never come true,
goals that were achieved and yet to be achieved and
the many, many disappointments life has thrown at me.

When something wonderful happens,
I couldn't wait to tell her about it,
knowing she will share in my excitement.

Someone who will agonize with me when I am hurting or laugh with me when I make a fool of myself,

Someone who does not hurt my feelings
nor make me feel like I am not good enough, but rather

.Someone who will build me up and show me
the things about myself that make me feel special and
even more strong and successful.

There is never any pressure, embarrassment or
low of spirits, but only a quiet calmness
whenever she is around.

In her presence, I find quite contentment in just having her nearby.

I can be myself and not worry about what she will think of me
because she loves me for who I am.

Trivial things that seem insignificant to most people such as a song,
a moon, a dance, or just a simple walk become invaluable treasures
kept safe in my heart to cherish forever and carried to my coming births.

All the simple things we can do together become so exciting and interesting.
Colors seem brighter and more brilliant. She can make me feel young again.

Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn't exist at all.

On every occasion and in everything I do,
she is always with me, in spirit. We transcend the limits of our mind,
and learn to be one together

Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile because of her.

I find strength in knowing I have a true love and a soul mate that loves and understands me.

And I find happiness and contentment in knowing that
I am also a part of her life.
